OPEN HERITAGE was set up by Samuel Abelman to provide detailed and accessible consultancy services to owners and managers of heritage assets and listed properties. Clients include planning agents, architects, developers and owners of historic buildings.
Having worked in heritage management for many years has provided me with in-depth knowledge of all aspects of building conservation. I have a post-graduate diploma in building surveying (South Bank University) and an MSc Sustainable Heritage (University College London Bartlett).
Being an IHBC member keeps me up to date with current thinking and developments concerning the historic built environment, particularly planning policy and building regulations.
I actively engage with projects to regenerate historic buildings, either with sustainable new uses as community venues or for new business and enterprise. I negotiate between local authorities, external finding bodies and building owners to establish new uses for redundant buildings. I have established good relationships with local planning authorities and associated relevant professionals to provide multi-disciplinary and robust advice.
OPEN HERITAGE offers a comprehensive, creative and responsive service to help manage and sustain our valued historic built environment.
Feel free to contact me for an informal discussion about the specific requirements of your project, whether it’s about design, funding or planning policy, I’d be very happy to hear from you.
